• Age of Vehicle – Some newer vehicles may have windshields with features such as rain sensors, condensation sensors, lane departure warning systems, and brake assist, making them more expensive to produce and complex to install. In most cases, windshields for cars produced within the last 10 years will have a higher cost than windshields for older vehicles.
• OEM or Aftermarket – OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) windshields are name-brand windshields that are certified by the Department of Transportation and meet industry safety standards. They are supplied by the vehicle manufacturer, making them a bit more expensive than aftermarket alternatives.
• Aftermarket windshields also meet DOT standards, but may not have the same overall quality, fit, and finish as the Original Equipment Manufacturer’s glass.
